Over February, Action on Access is piloting our exciting AonA Padlet: the new Action on Access online community and we are inviting contributions from interested colleagues to help us to pilot this innovation by contributing a post – in the form of text, audio, video, screencasts or other media – to this new mechanism for a Padlet-based community of practice. You may be familiar with Padlet through your teaching; the AonA Padlet aims to provoke and facilitate conversations and discussion on widening access, student participation and success, and students’ successful progression from higher education.

We are inviting people who wish to trial it with us to get in touch with an expression of interest to me at You can be assured that your post will not initially be published, but, used by us to test out the mechanics and ease of use of the Padlet. Once we have created and refined a working Padlet we will seek your comments on the finished product and also your permission to upload your post to the new public site.

Your contribution to this pilot for the AonA Padlet will assist us greatly in the design, testing and evaluation. It will validate what we hope will be a stimulating and enlightening digital space to visit.  We envisage the Padlet to realise a number of purposes:

So whether you want to post: either as a general input on your area of expertise; for a particular project, programme or research that you are involved with; or in response to matters affecting student access, participation and success let’s explore this innovative possibility for sharing, commenting and learning. The pilot phase will extend through February and we hope to launch the public version in March when we have ironed out any wrinkles. So watch out for the launch in March 2018.

Andrew Rawson and Mike Hill, Action on Access.
